Night Vision! Portimao Preview

The Le Mans Series is back in action next week with their third round night race in Portugal.

In little over a week JMW Motorsport will be in the Portuguese sunshine (well we hope!) as the Le Mans Series kicks back into action with the third round of the 2009 Championship.

This will be the first time the teams have been back together since the wonderful Le Mans 24 Hour race which saw JMW Motorsport take an impressive 4th place in the LMGT2 class.

Portimao is a new track to the majority of racers, having only opened at the end of last year. Located on the Algarve, the circuit is 2.95 miles with 15 turns. Like other popular circuits on the LMS calendar, such as Spa and Nurburgring, it is undulating in nature. First glance and feedback suggest it will be a good circuit for overtaking and present the drivers and cars with plenty of challenges.

What makes this race extra special is it will be a night race. Both Gimmi and Rob excel in the dark, and it is true to say there is something thrilling about endurance racing at nightfall. The JMW Motorsport Ferrari will be sporting the much lauded winning Dunlop Design by Germany's Christian Baur, which was unveiled at Le Mans 24hrs.
